Engage and embolden with Stanzas of America, our semester-long UC-approved English, Performing Arts, or Elective curriculum for grades 9-12. This course celebrates BIPOC poetry, encouraging you to share your own writing through a deep dive into poetic form and function. You will use the Get Lit model for analysis, appreciation, and response-writing to produce and publish your own chapbook. This course is aligned to the California Ethnic Studies requirement and also includes 100+ poems by BIPOC poets and energetic youth-led videos.learn more

Empower expression with Voices in Verse, our semester-long UC-approved English, Performing Arts, or Elective curriculum for grades 9-12. Through the lenses of poetry and direct instruction, you will use the Get Lit Model to engage in academic dialogue, analysis, collective discussion, and creative writing. You'll explore and address impactful subjects including: race, gender, class, and power structure. This course is aligned to the California Ethnic Studies requirement and also includes 100+ poems by BIPOC poets and energetic youth-led videos.
Elevate your writing and Spoken Word performance skills – you’ll be reading works from groundbreaking poets and writing your own responses to Classic poems. This course will help you discover unknown parts of yourself and learn a new way to share who you are with the world!

Get Lit SpokesPoets star in this highly engaging and interactive curriculum. Each on-demand virtual course incorporates student-led videos, podcasts, and more!
This course runs from July 5 to August 4. Learn at your own pace with live instruction and peer collaboration. Words Ignite meets from 11 - 12 (collaboration time M. and W. 3:30 - 4:30 pm), Voices in Verse meets from 10 - 11 (collaboration time Tue. and Th. 3:30 - 4:30 pm), and Stanzas of America meets from 9 - 10 (collaboration time Tue. and Th. 2 - 3pm
Students living in Los Angeles, Orange, San Bernardino, Ventura, or Kern Counties can take our courses tuition-FREE through iLEAD Online. Email firstname.lastname@example.org for information. If you live outside of the 5 free counties but are eligible for the Free or Reduced Price Lunch program, you may be eligible for a scholarship!

Students are welcome to sign up for both courses.
Students living in Los Angeles, Orange, San Bernardino, Ventura, or Kern Counties who are not enrolled in LAUSD can take our courses tuition-FREE through iLEAD Online or Stanza International Academy.

Get Lit’s Classic & Response Model inspires students to claim Classic poems and develop their own responses. Both teachers and students describe the process as “empowering” and “transformative,” even for students who have never shown an interest in poetry or Spoken Word before.
