Jaziyyah “Blu” Higgins

Head of Talent and Performance

Jaziyyah, also known as Blu, is a host, poet, performer, and writer. As a proud Howard University graduate, he has performed on stages across the country, including the NAACP, Thurgood Marshall College Fund, Busboys and Poets, and the Pan African Film Festival Spoken Word Fest. In 2022, Blu released his debut poetry collection, orchids&blus, through New Degree Press. The book earned Amazon’s #1 New Release in Black & African American Poetry and introduced his work to an ever growing readership. Offstage, Blu is a community cultivator and teaching artist. He facilitates writing workshops for youth and emerging creatives as part of Get Lit Words Ignite and hosts open mics at Da Poetry Lounge and the Radical Hood Library. Born in Cincinnati, Ohio and raised in Smithfield, VA, Blu now calls Los Angeles home. His work is inspired by a legacy of storytellers, the power of live performance, and the belief that language, when wielded with care, can remake the world.
